Vivo per Lei (which literally means I Live for Her in Italian) is one of the most famous songs recorded by Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli. Although it was originally performed as a duet with Giorgia Todrani in 1995, Bocelli later went on to record it with other well-known female artists including Marta Sánchez (Spanish – Vivo por ella), Hélène Ségara (French), Judy Weiss (German) and Sandy (Brazilian Portuguese).
The original song was written by the group O.R.O. but was later rewritten by Gatto Panceri for Bocelli and Todrani. In the original version, “lei” (she/her) refers to a woman, whereas in the rewritten version, it is a reference to “la musica” (music), which is a feminine noun in Italian.
