Felicità, the Italian word for happiness, comes from the Latin word felix meaning happy, blessed or lucky. English speakers shouldn’t have any trouble remembering this word if they call to mind the term felicity, a close synonym for happiness.
Some closely related terms include felice (happy), felicemente (happily), felicitare (to congratulate) and of course, the formal English expression expressing praise for an achievement or good wishes, felicitations.

Felicity (in English) is a possible first name for a girl. In Italian there is the name Felicita without the grave accent mark on the “a” (the intonation falls on the first “i” in this case). Neither name is as popular as it used to be.
A much less common usage of the word felicità (and felicity in English) is the pleasing manner or quality in which something is expressed, especially in reference to art or language.
